Ferries have long been an essential means of transport in the Highlands and Islands, an area of lochs, rivers and coastal inlets. The photograph is from the collection of I F Grant, who took and collected many striking pictures of the West Highlands and the Western Isles, though the precise location in this case has not yet been identified
